Search Tips

Our website has nearly 400 books and DVDs. Searching through them all can be quite time consuming, so you might begin your search by clicking on the category in the left hand menu found on each page that most closely describes what you are looking for - "Children and Teens Facing Loss," etc.

If you are looking for a specific subject, use the search box at the top of the page to narrow down your search. For instance, if you are looking for a book for a child who has lost a grandmother, try entering "grandmother" or "grandparent," or any other descriptive keyword that might relate to your particular situation. Keywords can be any words or parts of words that are part of the database entry for an item. These include the book's title, author, description, item number, price, etc.

The more specific your choice of keywords, the more likely you will be to find closely related books easily.

You can also enter multiple keywords separated by spaces, omitting words such as "and" "of" "for" etc. For instance, instead of "death of a sibling" enter "death sibling" or better yet, just "sibling," or "brother" or "sister." The search engine will return only items which contain all keywords entered.

Searches are not case sensitive. Entering the keyword "red" will return the exact same results as entering the keyword "RED", or even "rEd."

An item will be returned by the search engine if the keyword entered appears anywhere in that item's database entry - even if it is part of another word. Entering the keyword "green" will return items containing "green" "evergreen" "Greenville," etc., so that you may find unrelated books among the ones you are looking for. Again, try to be more specific in your keyword choice to avoid this. For instance, instead of "pet" try "dog" or "cat"
