by John Schneider
For many years we at Compassion Books have worked with John Schneider. We admire him as an exceptional clinician and Donna has hosted many workshops with him so others might learn of his significant contributions to the field of loss grief and transformation.
Finding My Way is an example of Dr. Schneider’s exemplary nature. Although this author is well versed in theory he chooses to present his ideas in a narrative tone that is rich in examples, case histories, and narrative stories. Nor does he strive to cloak his information in distancing clinical language. Instead, Schneider speaks to you as a fellow person learning to face and transform losses that naturally occur in the course of a lifetime.
Finding My Way does not provide a quick fix. It is, however, an invaluable book for all individuals and professionals who are hopeful that life and the losses it entails can make for a meaningful and coherent journey. It is a book we highly recommend for those who consider the human experience as a multidimensional journey. Schneider asks us to consider behaviors, cognitive aspects, emotional aspects, physical manifestations and spiritual aspects - ways to support and assist healing outcomes. Dr. Schneider's model of grief is holistic and exemplary.
