This Middle Childhood Edition of the Mourning Child Grief Support Group Curriculum is for professional working in schools, hospitals, hospices, mental health agencies, or any setting that serves bereaved children grades 3 - 6.
The authors provide detailed instructions and learning objectives to guide group leaders. Information on death education, coping, and self-care are given in each session and a variety of grief styles are recognized and validated. This curriculum to facilitate mourning also has a leaders handbook (see #C03V). Sessions normalize a variety of grief styles. Activities help youth express feeling and gain insight into the meaning of the loss. Up to 10 sessions are given in each age group. Activities include drawing, sculpting, music, games, drama, stories, and movements.
